A new bridge between Tipner West and Horsea Island East will provide a new bus, bike and pedestrian link between Portsea Island and the north of the city.
It will provide a valuable alternative to the motorway and main roads for residents in Port Solent, Paulsgrove and Cosham. People living in new homes at Tipner West will have easy access to the proposed country park at Horsea Island East.
As part of the South East Hampshire Rapid Transit network people living and working at Tipner West will be able to take advantage of better bus connections between Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Waterlooville, Havant and the Isle of Wight.
Will a new development link up with the city's cycle network?
Any development at Tipner West should make it easier for people to travel on foot, by bike and on public transport. A new bridge between Tipner West and Horsea Island East will provide a new cycle route in and out of Portsea Island.
How will a new development connect with Portsmouth's road network?
The site will be connected via the existing junction on the M275. The new bridge will be a link for buses, bikes and pedestrians, not cars.
Will people living in new homes at Tipner West be able to have cars?
Yes. There will be parking available for residents.
